Van is described as “a little man of action” who is happiest when he’s on the go. This four-year-old from Dayton has Rhabdomyosarcoma of the right leg and among other treatments, he’s had to endure the complex surgery of removing the upper portion of his right leg. Coupling this drastic surgery, he suffers with low core strength, so sitting up can be a challenge; however, he finds a way to get to where he’s going by crawling or being pushed in a stroller. At his wish interview, his parents talked about his love of Disney characters (especially Olaf) and Sesame Street and we were pleased to be able to send this excitable boy to visit the Florida parks in March. Unfortunately, after enjoying Magic Kingdom and Epcot on day one and Universal Studios and SeaWorld on day two; day 3 brought sickness to both Mom and Van and eventually his sister got sick as well. The last few days of their trip were spent at Give Kids the World in their villa. Our hope is that we are able to fulfill the full wish of each of our kids, but we also know that life happens and sometimes disruptions take over. Fortunately, in this case, we connected with our great friends at Radisson Blu-MOA and they were happy to make up for Van’s missed Disney days with an extended weekend at the MOA and Nickelodeon Universe! Van’s mom reported that he loved exploring the park and the rides at MOA. She also sent in a lovely note stating, “Thank you both and the whole Wishes & More team for everything you do to bless families like ours.”
