In 2018, we met a beautiful teenage girl who was standing by for a kidney transplant and surviving through dialysis treatments as a substitution for her non-functioning kidneys. Hannah shared her wish for a shopping spree at the MOA and IKEA and we were delighted to help lift her spirits as she decided where and how to shop, shop, shop. Her kidney failure was draining her physically and emotionally and her wish day was just what she needed. Her parents, her brother and her best friend climbed into the limo and joined her on her day of fun. She used most of her funds to update her bedroom and purchase all the extras to make the space hers. Her Mom recalls that the entire experience brought her so much joy. Her mother also shared that “since Hannah was so ill, she spent a lot of time in her room. She loved her special space”.
Sadly, Hannah’s mom reached out in January and shared that Hannah came down with a blood infection and endured open heart surgery. Soon after, she endured several strokes and her family put her in hospice care, at which time she was able to go home. Just three days later, Hannah passed and her mother wrote, “Heaven has gained an angel. Hannah was the strongest, most kind and loving person. I couldn’t be more honored to be her mom. She loved her family and friends so much.” Mom has encouraged family and friends to donate to Wishes & More in Hannah’s memory so that other teens will have the opportunity to have a wish granted.
We are grateful to know how much Hannah’s wish meant to her and honored to use the funds to support future Wish Kids like our Hannah.
