Ava was born with a heart defect and she was only 3-months old when her loving parents waited in a surgical lounge while their precious little girl endured her first heart surgery. Ava also faced the challenges of having Down Syndrome but neither one stopped her from bringing joy and having her life filled with joy, love and laughter. She sang, she danced and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Along the way to her 17th year, she was active in adaptive dance, Miracle League, Gigi’s Playhouse and was always excited about going to school. She loved the teachers and specialists that helped her to learn to read and the medical teams that shared her journey. Her parents described her as “confident” with a “never-give-up attitude” and her parents are extremely grateful to all of those who touched and enriched her life. During her 17th year, she was scheduled for a fourth open heart surgery and bravely underwent the delicate procedure; sadly, she was unable to beat post-surgical complications. Her loved ones found comfort in her peaceful passing and she left this world with her siblings holding her hands. Wishes & More shares their sadness and disappointment that we were not able to have the opportunity to grant a wish for Ava before her passing; however, we supported her family with a financial gift through our special Memorial program. We know that Ava had a profound impact on all who knew her and that she will be missed dearly. We hope our Memorial gift will help create a lasting reminder of the life Ava beautifully lived.
