Ameil is a 14-year-old from Rosemount who has not only endured a kidney transplant, he is now battling post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD). While PTLD is rare, it is one of the most common post-transplant cancers. Additionally, last Fall, doctors adjusted a plate in his hip due to his congenital hip deterioration and there are talks of him needing a bladder transplant. Despite it all, Ameil finds joy in the outdoors and especially loves fishing with his dad. He shared that he’s never had the opportunity to fish in the open water, only from the shoreline; consequently, his wish was to have access to open water fishing and talked about joining a boat club as his number one wish. This will give him the opportunity to fish in different lakes throughout the Summer without the hassle of getting a boat in and out of the water and the cost of maintenance and slip fees. His parents jumped onboard and took a boating class to ensure they were comfortable at sea – and just last week the family enjoyed their first ride through Your Boat Club on Prior Lake! We love seeing his great smile and wish him many warm months of fishing and other activities on the lake with his family. Special thanks to former wish recipient Aren for donating a fishing rod through North 10 Outdoors – custom-made just for Ameil!
