Three-year-old Simon suffers from a serious genetic disorder with a very limited prognosis. His condition has taken other children by the age of five and Simon’s loving family treasures every moment they have with him. Mom & Dad reached out to Wishes & More in search of a way to help their sweet boy experience as much as possible, with the time they are given, and noted that special experiences to him are as simple as dipping his toes into a cool lake or sitting around a warm bonfire. He is a huge fan of being outside and his eyes shine brightly the minute he feels the breeze on his face. After learning more about this amazing family, our wish team concluded that a camper allowance would best suit them so that the entire family of seven can enjoy time “Up North” and experience all of the beauty that our State has to offer! Simon’s parents searched for the best option for their family and found a used 2003 Bay Ridge Damon Travel Trailer that now sits on a campsite in northern MN. The camper is perfect for Simon because it has a large screened in porch where he can sit in his wheelchair and still enjoy being “outside” rain or shine without the sun beating on him or pesky mosquitoes annoying him. Simon is now able to be a part of every minute of weekends away to watch his rowdy siblings play outside and gather with them around the campfire. Shortly after their first weekend away, Mom wrote, “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To see all of our kids together in the outdoors – dirty and tired and silly and making memories, it flooded our hearts with happiness. I just wanted to freeze time and relive each day – but we will be able to recreate it every weekend! The camper is an absolute treasure to Simon and our family. Thank you for such a generous wish!!” Simon’s Wish Camper will continue to be the backdrop for measuring life in memories and not in years.
