15-year-old Rob was an outgoing, playful young man – until last November when he was tragically diagnosed with a high grade brain tumor. He was immediately treated with aggressive therapy, but the cancer had already metastized and there was nothing more that could be done to save his life. He was no longer home in Isanti, he was in the hospital on hospice when we met him and he told our Wish Wizard volunteers that he had called his Grandma in Kentucky and asked her to bring his Dad and come to Minnesota to be with him. He shared that his only wish was to have his family together.  We put everything in fast forward and two days later we had them arriving at MSP and checked into a local hotel. The family was now together and they all spent as much time as they could with Rob. To ensure that they could enjoy one daily meal together, we worked with a variety of local restaurants to have something enjoyable and different each day. Our very sincere thanks to Red Cow North Loop, Pizza Luce St. Paul, Jersey Mike’s Fridley, Chick Fil-A Stadium Village, and Nothing Bundt Cakes Maple Grove for their generosity in providing food for this family as they dealt with this difficult situation.  We are incredibly grateful that we were able to grant Rob’s wish before he passed just one week after his wish was completed.  We hope the memories of their time spent together help bring peace to each of them during this time of grief.
