Family vacations are something that most people may easily take for granted – but not Nora’s family. They have always enjoyed traveling as a family and experiencing new things and new places. The pandemic created cancellations but since then they’ve had to cancel trips as a result of a very scary situation with a new medical diagnosis. Nora started experiencing a large number of seizures – on average 11 each day and over 4,000 throughout 2022. These seizures took a huge toll on her ability to lead a “normal” life. She had to take a break from her favorite activities like dance and riding her bike – she broke her arm when she fell off her bike during one of the seizures. Doctors discovered the seizures were triggered by a benign brain tumor which they removed in January and since then, Nora’s life has significantly changed! With the seizures at bay it was time to bring her wish to life. Her wish was to go on a family road trip out West, to see National Parks and especially to ride on the Durango Silverton Railroad in beautiful Colorado. Nora’s trip was one for the books! The week started with a limo ride to the airport to head to Las Vegas. From there, the family of four traveled to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, Great Sand Dunes, Rocky Mountain before heading home from Denver! Whew! Mom summed it up by simply saying, “What an unforgettable trip!”
We are forever grateful to these wish contributors who made this wish possible: Circus Circus Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, Desert Pearl Inn, SpringHill Suites by Marriott Moab, DoubleTree by Hilton Durango, Rustic Rook Resort, Colorado Chautauqua and Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
And special thanks to the Maddy Nelson Memorial Foundation for adopting Nora’s wish and supporting Wishes & More in another wish come true! We are honored to have the support of so many who feel connected to our kids!
