Aloha! When we first met Lucy, she was eighteen-years-old and had not only recently graduated from DeLaSalle as a three-sport athlete, she had also just completed her treatments for Hodgkins Lymphoma. Our volunteers quickly learned that Lucy was a big fan of Minnesota Gopher football player and cancer survivor, Casey O’Brien, and that she loves to travel with her family. Her number one wish was to travel to Hawaii and although she had to wait a full year to be able to travel without restrictions, this past week her wish came true! You may remember her from her special wish reveal at Tom Reid’s Hockey City Pub. The restaurant was filled with Wishes & More supporters who witnessed Casey O’Brien surprising her and telling her that her wish was approved; as we showered her with all sorts of Hawaiian-themed items! Lucy and her family had the trip of a lifetime that was punctuated with a Road to Hana tour, a Luau, gorgeous views from the specially priced room at Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and lots of interesting wildlife including turtles, dolphins and koi. We are so proud of this incredible young lady and wish her well as she continues her education at the College of St. Benedict where she plans to participate in Cross Country and Track! Wishes & More will also be supporting her with a Scholarship of Hope® as she studies Communication and Exercise Health Sciences.
