Kenna

Kids and Carnivals – a perfect match!  Kenna was an infant when she was first diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (eye cancer) and underwent chemo treatments. She continues to be managed with procedures to keep the tumors from growing and her parents feel blessed that they are managing her condition. They were humbled at the opportunity to have a wish for their darling little girl and struggled with what would be the best wish possible for her. Mom shared with Wishes & More, “While we were in-patient, we saw many very sick children and we want to ensure that every child experiences a wish-come-true.” They determined that a Carnival-for-Kenna was the perfect opportunity to have a party tributing their sweet girl. They would have others join in the festive celebration, and at the same time, they would encourage their invited network to financially support Wishes & More so that other kids going through similar experiences have an opportunity to experience a wish. The day was a whirlwind of activity at Infinite Campus in Blaine. Over 70 volunteers assisted in hosting carnival games, a bounce-house, prizes, face-painting, balloon animals and arches, crafts, pizza, and beverages. Kenna made her arrival in style with the Lino Lakes Police and Fire Trucks escorting their family vehicle to a waiting and applauding group of volunteers, supporters, family, and friends! She spent the afternoon in delight as she played each game, danced on-stage in her rainbow-tulle skirt and did a great job answering questions from the media covering her story (see link to WCCO story below). We are honored that Kenna’s wish is a pay-it-forward opportunity for the family to feel great about supporting others in similar situations. We hope that Kenna will continue to heal and grow and live a life of supporting others!
