Thanksgiving wasn’t the same for many people this year; for Karson, it was VERY different as he spent it in anticipation of his Wish Day on FRIDAY! This six-year-old struggles with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, chiari malformation, and neurogenic bowel & bladder (inability to control,) and yet this bundle of energy doesn’t let any of these difficulties slow him down! His wish was very clear from the moment we met him – he wanted a puppy to grow and play with. Karson has always dreamed of having a dog and had already chosen names by the time we interviewed him: Maxwell, Rose, Gidget, or Daisy. Immediately after meeting Karson, Wishes & More started the search to find him the perfect best friend. By a stroke of Wishes & More fate, our Wish Team contacted Finney Ranch with the request, and it just so happened that one of their dogs had a surprise pup in the litter! Breeders Shannon and Erik generously agreed to donate a little guy for Karson, and when he saw a photo of his wish pup, Karson knew that “Maxwell” was his name! On Black Friday, a playful miniature Aussiedoodle travelled all the way from Lancaster (near the Canadian border) to Monticello to meet his forever family and new best friend. Karson and Maxwell were introduced and instantly hit it off! Audrey, a friend of the breeder lives in Colorado and when she heard about Karson’s wish, she wanted take part in this special gift by providing photos of their initial meeting. Wishes & More also provided all the essentials for Maxwell – toys, collars, treats etc. and thanks to our friends at Nutrisource, they’ll have dog food for over a year as well.
