Kace

Kace has a variety of unique interests, many of which continue to provide a great distraction from his diagnosis of germ cell cancer. We discovered at his wish interview that Kace’s primary interest is Japanese culture. He loves Pokémon, Japanese cuisine, and manga, and he’s even used an app to help him learn the language. His top wish was clear: to visit Japan! We interviewed him last February and booked his trip for October… which gave him plenty of time to heal (he’s thankfully on the up and up!) and gave us ample opportunity to sprinkle in some more magic as he waited. In April, he visited Normandale’s Japanese Cherry Blossom Garden, where we revealed to him that we were officially granting his wish. We also teamed up with Benihana MOA to provide what Kace said was “above and beyond one of the best experiences of his life.” Thanks to all the staff at Benihana for making his dinner so incredibly special! And finally, his wish came true! We helped Kace and his family pack a lifetime of memories into one week abroad. Some of these memories include a welcome to Tokyo from our friends at Delta, fishing for their own sushi dinner, visiting the Pokémon Center, exploring dreamy Dotonbori River district, and wrapping up the trip with a stay at Disneyland Tokyo. We owe another huge thank you to Rebecca MacGregor from Sense of Place Travel for Kace’s complimentary tour of Tokyo’s northern districts, Akihabara (“Electric Town”), and Asakusa. Whew – what a trip! Kace loved every second, and consequently, he slept quite soundly on the way home. Huge thanks to Pitzl & Pitzl for adopting Kace’s wish and for bringing his dream to life!
