Helena unexpectedly experienced nausea and vomiting, accompanied by a tremor in her left arm, and was rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital. Immediately, a CAT scan was performed, which revealed a large tumor in the middle of her brain. After she was stable, they life-flighted her to St. Paul Children’s Hospital. While in flight, Helena became unresponsive after suffering a catastrophic event. After days on life support and no signs of brain activity, the family decided to donate her organs. Helena will stay forever 9 years old and will be remembered for her big and outgoing personality and how she enjoyed cross country skiing and ice skating. She never had the opportunity to experience a wish but Wishes & More was able to provide Helena’s family with a memorial grant to use in her memory.
