Emmett was just 11 months old when his adoring parents learned that he had a terminal degenerative illness. They were devastated to hear the prognosis was that fifty percent of children with this condition do not make it to their third birthday. With the gravity of this prognosis weighing on them, his family decided to focus on having joyful experiences, and they turned to Wishes & More to help support that endeavor. We worked with many amazing establishments to create cherished family memories for his parents & siblings to hold onto. Great Wolf Lodge provided hours of waterpark play and a relaxing suite as “homebase” for their adventures. Emmett and his three older siblings engaged in imaginative play at the MiniSota Play Cafe, especially loving the salon, gym, and jail areas – not to mention loads of ice cream! Chick-fil-A surprised the family with a decorated section of the restaurant, table service, balloons, banners, coloring books… gifts galore from not only Chick-fil-A, but also their generous staff. (Talk about above-and-beyond!) Among other handmade creations, the family also now has a beautifully painted birthday plate with Emmett’s handprint! This experience from Color Me Mine will allow this plate (and Emmett’s handprint) to always be part of future family celebrations. The Minnesota Zoo provided an unforgettable penguin encounter, where they were able to personally pet the penguins. Sweet Cakes LLC sweetened up the wish with a Nothing Bundt Cake, delivered right to their hotel! To top off the adventures, Tickets for Kids provided admission to the Minnesota Children’s Museum, where the family explored and were busy bees at every station. The generosity of so many people made this wish possible, and we are so grateful that we were able to arrange Emmett’s extraordinary and magically memorable wish-come-true.
