Emily

“Live and love a lot, every moment of every day,” was Emily and her family’s favorite quote. She was a positive young girl with a love for all Minnesota sports. She read the sports page daily, cheered on the Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, and Wild, and had an amazing ability to remember stats on all of her favorite players! In August 2004, Emily began to lose her ability to walk and her health worsened aggressively.  She was diagnosed with a neuron malfunction, a mysterious and debilitating condition, but she didn’t let it ruin her positive outlook. When Emily came to Wishes & More®, she asked to visit her Uncle in San Diego, California, so she could visit the San Diego Zoo and swim with the dolphins at Sea World.  Emily’s wish came true and she and her family traveled to San Diego the following June. From resort accommodations to flights, Wishes & More® took care of it all. Emily’s swim with the dolphins was one she’d never forget. Her infectious personality even had an impression on dolphin she swam with, to the point that it wouldn’t even listen to its trainer, but rather only focused on Emily. In addition to her adventure in San Diego, Emily joined Wishes & More® for our Celebrity Dinner, Birthday Party and even represented us at the Oakdale Outlaws football game. Sadly, a few months after Emily’s wish came true, she passed away. Her death broke the hearts of many, and everyone at Wishes & More® was grateful to have been able to call her a friend and make her dreams come true.
