Social Workers play an important role at Wishes & More and join us in deeply caring about our wish kids and their families. In most cases, since they are the closest resource for our wish families when they are in hospital, they serve as the referral source for our organization. We value these relationships and recently, we were incredibly moved to receive this message from one of these caring professionals. This was from the referral source for a darling little girl who was in hospice locally and her wish was to have her family come for a visit and spend precious time together: “I wasn’t sure if you all had been in touch with [the wish recipient], but she is looking super amazing. Dad said that she has been so happy since having her mom and siblings here. Mom’s been cooking her favorite foods, and they’ve been playing and enjoying being reunited. Since we sent her home on hospice in February, we hadn’t really seen her, so it was such a joy to see her thriving in clinic. Many thanks to your organization for helping this girl be with her family and prioritizing quality of life.” The family is requesting anonymity, so we are not posting any photos, but her story is worth sharing, noting the impact on all involved.
