Haley

Haley is a pretty typical teenage girl – she loves going to the theater, Nick Jonas & singing along to John Legend and Christmas tunes!  This sweet lady was born with Down syndrome – but her true battle began recently when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This diagnosis has forced Haley to endure many months of treatments and hospital stays.  Through it all, her smile has stayed, her attitude has remained hopeful, and her loving family and puppy, Schmitty, have been right by her side. When our volunteers talked with Haley, she mentioned repeatedly how much she loves her Mom and Grandma and thought it would be super fun to shop for a gift for them and Crocs for herself! We determined that a special day at the Mall of America was the perfect wish for her and just last week, Haley’s “day of fun” began with a special basket of treats delivered to her hotel room at the J.W. Marriott where the fine folks from the hotel also surprised her with various kinds of bacon after learning that she was a huge bacon fan 😊 Shortly after, she, Mom & Grandma enjoyed special shopping experiences at Build-A-Bear & Games By James before spending time at Sea Life and eating dinner at her favorite restaurant, Hooters!  We were thrilled to provide this unique day of shopping to light up this sweet girl’s face after she’s endured so much!  And a special thank you to each of the stores and the hotel listed above for their generous donations – making them wish contributors towards Haley’s special wish!
