“Mighty Miles” will always be remembered as a superhero who went into battle fighting Congenital Heart Disease every day of his life. He celebrated his 5th birthday just after his fourth heart surgery. This surgery was supposed to be his final one; however, it didn’t go as expected and resulted in infection and complications resulting in another surgery. Miles wished for nothing more than to get back to his own home, mess around with his big brothers, boss his mom and dad around, learn, and see his friends at school, but it wasn’t to be. Miles’ immune system was shot and his parents did everything they could to make him as comfortable as possible. Sadly, we weren’t able to grant a wish for this sweet boy before he passed away surrounded by his loving parents, brothers and sisters. In lieu of a wish, we gave his sweet family a Memorial Grant for them to use in any way they choose. A special note from his family included, “Miles was a gift to us all. He taught us how to love and laugh big. He taught us that tiny is mighty. He showed us what strength looks like. He showed us how to live each day to the fullest. He left us with his sassy and feisty memories, and will forever be our ray of sunshine.”
