Eighteen-year-old Abigail had just started college at UWEC for Athletic Training when she received the diagnosis of Hodgkins Lymphoma. She has had to put her long-awaited college dream on hold and focus instead on resting and allowing her intense treatments to take effect. These treatments have taken a toll on Abbie both emotionally and physically – and Wishes & More is very pleased to be able to help ease the burden. Abbie’s spirits have remained high throughout the whole process with a little help from her friends, who have helped make every chemo treatment a party. Abbie invites friends to attend each treatment and shared, “since I have to be there for three hours, I might as well spend it with people I like!” Abbie’s wish began with a special wish enhancement for her and a friend – tickets and meet & greet passes for her favorite band, 5 Seconds of Summer at Jingle Ball thanks to KDWB.
Abbie’s number one wish was for a Sleep Number bed to help her rest and sleep more comfortably as she continues through her hard treatments and that will last her long afterwards as well. Last week, Abbie’s wish came true when our wish coordinator, Julie, and our wish underwriters, the Bruber Family, had a chance to deliver all of the wish accessories to Abbie’s home. Mom sent a text the following day, ” [Abbie is] Extremely happy! First night she slept the whole night!!” Abbie’s final treatment will take place on her birthday on February 20. We can’t wait to see photos of this BIG celebration in honor of this great Teen!
