Tanner

Our purpose in providing a wish is to bring joy, light, happiness and hope to each wish recipient and to the family members who have supported them through some really tough days, weeks and years.  When Tanner received his wish at the our annual gala, we saw every one of those emotions cross his face, and we not only wanted to share the video of his reaction (https://youtu.be/letT-SX7X1Y), we also wanted to share these beautiful words written by his Mom on his Caringbridge Journal:  “A few months into his cancer journey, Tanner was contacted by an incredible local organization whose mission is to grant wishes to children battling terminal or life threatening illnesses.  He filled out an application, went through an interview process and not only was he fortunate to have been chosen to receive a wish, he was chosen to represent at their annual gala as a “wish kid” and unbeknownst to him, personally receive his wish, presented by the board, at the gala.  Keeping it a secret was tough but worth every second by the look on his face when they rolled it in.  As a mother, the size and power of a brand new Kawasaki KX 250 for a son that just survived brain cancer was somewhat terrifying but his genuine gratefulness and humble spirit helped stamp down my fear just a little bit.  I know he will be careful and safe.  He’ll never be alone because [his brother] Trit will always be there waiting for his turn.😂. I’m not sure which boy was more excited.  Along with the dirt bike, he was also gifted with a $2,000 college scholarship which will be helpful as he starts on his path to become a pediatric oncology nurse.  I can’t say enough about this incredible organization and the things they are doing to help local children who are experiencing some of the most difficult moments of their lives.  We are so grateful to have this experience be a part of Tanner’s journey.”
