In 2020, tiny Oscar arrived prematurely and was in respiratory failure. Wishes & More was contacted a month later by a social worker to be on standby to jump into action to support this young family with either a wish or a memorial grant. Miraculously, three years later, the family was ready to think about a wish after his trach was finally removed and he achieved his goal of breathing without assistance! Mom’s family in Malaysia had never met this sweet boy and the wish for a trip to visit his grandparents, aunts and uncles was born. Travel arrangements were made for June and the 3.5 weeks spent with family seemed to go by in a flash. Mom reported, “Oscar got to meet a lot of family members. His cousins were excited to see him. I was able to bring Oscar to see the town where I grew up. It’s a few hours drive from the capital and it’s by the ocean. Time flew while we were there. It was a good adventure. Thank you for making this happen!” What a joy to play a role in bringing families together and allowing the special bonding time between generations. Truly a wish-come-true!
