Megan

During the Summer months leading into her sophomore year, Megan started to feel run down and found out she had pneumonia.  After 6 weeks of treatments, she wasn’t feeling well but she still went to her first day of school and her parents scheduled a doctor’s appointment right after the school day ended.  Doctors were alarmed when they found her blood cells and platelets were at dangerously low levels.  After more tests, her confirmed diagnosis was Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. You can imagine the devastation the whole family felt when their young, energetic, and bright teenager was dealt such a terrible blow. However, Megan has kept her fighting spirit and endured numerous surgeries, biopsies, spinal taps, blood draws, transfusions for blood & platelets, and chemotherapy over the past two years.  She has also kept up with her studies and has gotten back into her favorite sport – playing softball with her team as much as her achy, sore body allows.  She not only plays ball, she is also a Max Kepler fan and enjoys watching our hometown Twins take the field!

When Wishes & More met this social teen, she talked about wanting to get her own vehicle so that she can use it at college next year and to allow her the freedom to get a part-time job to help with expenses.  She picked out a Buick Encore and used her Wishes & More car allowance towards the purchase.  She recently updated us that she’s taking PSEO classes and hybrid learning for her senior year and can’t wait to let us know when she enrolls at a college and is ready to use her Scholarship of Hope in 2021! Congrats on everything you’ve overcome in the past two years, Megan!  We can’t wait to see where you go from here!
