Unfortunately, some of our wish kids are unable to communicate their fondest wish in words. For these kids, we rely on their medical team and their parents to share what would be impactful and meaningful. Livia is one of those precious children. She is from a family of five from La Crescent near the Mississippi and they spend as much time on the river as possible. Livia has a genetic disorder that has caused serious developmental impairment and medical challenges. Her parent’s biggest hope is to fill her days with joy and special memories together with her sister and brother. Although she is unable to communicate with her own words, it’s very clear by the sparkle in her eyes that Livia absolutely loves the outdoors, especially spending time out on the glittering, blue water with the breeze in her face! Livia’s wish, voiced by her parents, was for a pontoon allowance so they could purchase a vessel that would allow easy access in getting her wheelchair on & off the boat. It will also enable her to use her Otteroo more often to “swim” since the door/ladder makes the process much easier for her to get in the water with her siblings and parents. After finding a gently used pontoon, they were eager to take it out for the first time. Mom sent in photos and a message sharing the impact this wish will have on their family. “Tears of joy fill my eyes as I type this because you guys really did make this dream come true for us, especially Livia as this will be so much easier on her, and allow her to enjoy the sun, breeze, river even more and now with more friends!” Wishing this strong family many moments of joy as they spend time together on the water.
