Levi

Levi, a teen from Zimmerman, was a Freshman at Bethel University studying Mechanical Engineering when his dreams were dashed with a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. All of his college plans were put on hold for his body to be able to recover from the trauma of treatment. Levi’s uniquely favorite things include fishing, cars, chemistry, Legos, Italian food, video games, and visiting any store that sells outdoor gear. At the influential age of 12, his grandpa gave him his very first fishing pole, and he’s been hooked ever since! Levi told our wish team that he was looking for some help in upping his fishing game for bass, northern pike, and walleye, with a new-to-him fishing boat. With the support of Frankie Dusenka and his team at Frankie’s Live Bait and Marine, Dave Janiszewski of RipaLip, and Cal Munkvold of Connect-Ease, his wish came true – BIG time! His family wanted to create a surprise for him with the presentation of his boat, and just weeks ago, WAM staff and volunteers had a chance to meet this great young man and see his face light up as he received the keys to the boat of his dreams in our office parking lot. The surprise was even more special when he saw his sisters, parents, grandparents, and his best friend were all there to share the joy. Everyone’s heart was touched when Levi said to a photographer from KSTP, “It’s unbelievable that this could come out of something so bad and terrible.”  Mom said, “We will forever be in awe of this outpouring of love!”  and we can’t wait to give him some more love by giving Levi his Scholarship of Hope when he returns to college very soon!  Sending our best wishes to Levi as he gets the boat on the water and (fingers crossed) catches the big one this fishing season!
