Landon

With gently rolling upland, large swamps, and a scenic steep stream valley, Nemadji State Forest is known for its trail system that draws outdoor enthusiasts throughout the year.  Landon’s family loves being out on the trails and the entire family was enjoying an ATV adventure in July of 2023 when the unthinkable happened. His four-wheeler tipped over! Landon’s arm and leg were fractured and he was bleeding extensively and trapped underneath. His family immediately jumped into action to winch up the ATV, call emergency and stop the bleeding with a bungee strap; all before a Sheriff Deputy met them on the main road with an ambulance. A dramatic airlift ride transported him to Duluth where he was rushed into his first emergency surgery. His family’s quick actions clearly saved Landon’s life and this 17-year-old wished for an opportunity that he could share with his parents, brother and three sisters. Disney World was the location of choice and to say they lived it up in Florida is an understatement! They had a blast at all the parks and after a few hot days for these Minnesotans, ice cream for breakfast at Give Kids the World was on the menu. We hope this family continues to find joy after enduring Landon’s heart-stopping and life-threatening journey and that Landon continues to heal both physically and emotionally.
