Fourteen-year-old Ka’Myra has a rare neurodegenerative disorder that is not only life-limiting, but it also impairs her physical abilities and developmental maturity. Additionally, she is deaf and attends Humboldt High School’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program, learning ASL, and her adoptive family is also learning, so they will all be able to communicate. Ka’Myra’s favorite things include being outdoors, engaging with other children, and riding her trike. As she’s grown, her trike has become too small, so her wish was for an adaptive Freedom Concepts bike! This custom bike will function and adapt to her size throughout her lifetime and allow her to be an active participant with her five siblings. Even if she loses the capability to operate it herself, it has features that will allow her parents to assist and make sure that bike rides are a part of her everyday! “KK” came to this loving family when they heard about the struggles the foster system had in placing her. With no previous fostering experience, they brought her into their home and fell in love with her sweet and uplifting personality, and immediately began the adoption process. She has fit right in to this beautiful family, and her smiles last from morning to night. A huge shoutout to Chick-fil-A Blaine Hwy 65, who invited the family for a special dinner with a decorated table and meals for the family!
