Colt

At a routine appointment last year, Colt’s family received the devastating news that his lazy eye was actually eye cancer. Every time he received treatment, this energetic little guy had to endure a six-hour round-trip drive to the Mayo Clinic from his home in Iowa. Can you imagine being two years old, stuck in a car for hours, and dealing with chemo symptoms? Colt is a little warrior and has been doing really well since his last round of chemo earlier this year. He wished for a weekend of adventure in Dubuque, Iowa’s oldest city! Colt and his family spent the last weekend of September making some extraordinary memories. Travel Dubuque donated a wonderful package for them that included complimentary accommodations and activities! We hopped in to make Colt’s experience out of this world by contacting some of the places he wanted to visit. Island Social Kitchen & Bar kicked off the wish with a warm welcome on Friday for lunch, where their table was decorated with stuffies and a homemade pie! Then the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium provided a special tour just for Colt, which included an encounter with the octopus and sting rays. On Saturday, Wrangler Roger at Riverview Ranch made Colt into a mini cowboy, and he loved his first experience riding a horse! Finally, he and his family visited the Crystal Lake Cave for a tour and sifting for fun geological treasures. Thank you to all of these incredible wish contributors for joining together to make Colt’s wish possible!
