Last year, 18-year-old Broten’s summer fun was hampered by frequent colds, minor illnesses and fatigue. He was just starting his senior year in high school and his parents sent him in for a physical to see what might be slowing him down. Some of the blood work was off which started him on a path of more tests that were coming back with erratic results. And then in early November they got the results no one wanted to hear – he was diagnosed with an aggressive, fast-growing tumor in his B Cells – Burkitt Lymphoma.
From November – the New Year, he was in and out of the hospital with spinal taps, chemo, blood draws, meds and just after Christmas he had a scary episode of vomiting blood and after an ambulance ride, he was intubated and put in a sedative state. The truth is his family feared losing him before the new year could begin.
Enter Wishes & More and a focused effort on a positive opportunity for this incredible fighter. A former HS golfer, Broten shared that his top wish revolved around golf and visiting / playing at beautiful courses. Montana was the destination and at the Wishes & More 2024 Golf Classic, our golfers and guests were part of the fun as we revealed his 7-day itinerary full of golf and outdoor adventures with his family!
