An intense headache and blurry vision alarmed Aubrey’s parents and initiated a trip to the ER. The scans were alarming – a golf ball size malignant tumor as well as hydrocephalus! An intense treatment plan began immediately; and so did many days of not being able to keep food down, dizziness, emergency shunt drains, extreme fatigue and confusion suffered by this sweet eight year old. We met her three months later and she was excited to tell us about her number one wish to go to Disneyworld with her family. She also shared that she was a “Swiftee” and would love to attend a Taylor Swift Concert. In a fabulous twist of fate, word of mouth generated a call from a lovely woman who had two tickets that she would share with us to pass on to Aubrey. This incredible gift was a perfect pick-me-up last June for Aubrey to enjoy with her Dad as she continued her treatments and Wishes & More got to work planning her trip for April. After quite a few setbacks and a lot of unknowns, Aubrey and her family had a blast in Florida in earlier this month. They were a bit worried she wouldn’t be feeling well, as she had been throwing up the week before, but she only felt sick one day the whole trip, which is huge! She met a ton of her favorite characters, did a Beauty & the Beast Experience, loved the parties at Give Kids the World, built lightsabers, and so much more! Aubrey’s fatigue kicked in, especially during the evenings, but they had a great time and made good use of a wheelchair to get her around the parks. Mom remarked at how thankful they are for this incredibly memorable trip. Sadly, Aubrey’s confusion may take some of these sweet memories from her, but Mom intends to put together a slideshow and photo album to help bring back the joy of her wish!
