Andy

Nine-year-old Andy has a rare, progressive and degenerative central nervous system disorder that deteriorates coordination, motor abilities, and cognitive function. His mobility is restricted by where his motorized wheelchair can take him. He lives on a big lot in Ham Lake and he loves visiting his grandparents farm. Unfortunately, he is unable to go into the woods in his back yard or into the pasture to “run around” with the cows and calves. His wish was for a Track Chair (a chair with tracks and not wheels) that would allow him to play outside like other kids. His older brother Jack has the same condition and has his own Track Chair, so this gift will allow the family to be able to enjoy the outdoors together.  At the Wishes & More Golf Classic on June 26th, we invited Andy’s family to the dinner portion of the event and during the program we introduced Andy to our guests.  While his back was turned, his new track chair was driven into the ballroom as a surprise, and as he turned and saw his wish was actually granted, his smile truly lit up the room!  He was immediately transferred into the chair and the entire room gave a standing ovation and he delighted in driving it for the first time!  Dad recently sent us photos of Andy and his brother Jack enjoying time together outside and let us know, “Andy is enjoying the track chair and we are so happy to see him explore.”  Special thanks to the Ham Lake Chamber of Commerce and to Brian Gilbertson for their generous support in contributing towards this outstanding and impactful wish come true!
