Remember Alex? In June of 2020 we granted his wish for a car allowance to buy a 1994 Toyota MR2 GT. A true car fanatic, the search for his perfect car was a great distraction during his cancer treatments for ALL. We recently checked in with this ambitious teen and learned that the car is in great shape and he still loves it – he’s actually storing it for the winter to keep it pristine! After graduating from Blaine HS in 2020, he decided to wait a year to begin college and this past August, he started classes at Iowa State University majoring in Cybersecurity Engineering. He told us that, “Cybersecurity is a constantly expanding and evolving field, allowing for many learning opportunities.” Although he is still in treatment that will continue through the Summer, he has remained focused on getting through his schooling in four years! I’m sure some of us could also relate to his long-term goals, “I’d like to retire as fast as I can to a lake in Wisconsin!” 😊 We’re proud to support Alex with his educational endeavors through our Scholarship of Hope program and look forward to seeing what his future holds in his field of choice! Join us in congratulating Alex and wishing him well!
