Trevor was born on November 27, 2007. Trevor was a happy boy, always laughing and smiling. He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy on June 18th, 2008. Spinal Muscular Atrophy, or SMA, affects the muscles needed for walking, talking, eating, etc… With heavy hearts, Wishes & More was not able to grant Trevor a wish, as he passed away on January 12, 2011 before he had decided on what he wanted. Instead, Trevor’s family was given a memorial grant to use in their deepest time of need. From Trevor’s mom: “The memorial for Trevor has allowed my family to celebrate his life by placing a stone marker at one of Trevor’s favorite places–the local arboretum. Trevor, in his wheelchair, and whoever else was with would walk on the paved paths at the arboretum. On the path, we watched woodpeckers, squirrels, various birds and the occasional moose going about their day. (The moose is a wood cut-out that created lots of discussion, questions and laughter. Questions include “why does the moose have no tail?” “Why does someone have a wood cut-out of a moose in their yard?” “What does this moose eat?”) Trevor enjoyed learning about what the animals ate, what they were doing, and where they are going. The look of wonderment that filled Trevor’s eyes is a special memory for me, for my family and for Trevor.” Thank you to Steve & Charlotte Garske, Premier Sponsors of the 2011 Valentine’s Ball for sponsoring Trevor’s Memorial.
