Six-year-old Kallen is challenged with a serious genetic condition but continues to be a loveable, joyful, and extraordinary kid. He is learning ASL and even though he has difficulty moving, he really enjoys being able to communicate with people and gives heart-warming smiles to express his joy at being a part of the conversation. His family loves being outside, but their home did not have a deck or patio for ease of his wheelchair. They wanted him to be able to be outside in a safe space and with them as they enjoy the best of Minnesota’s summers. Consequently, they shared their wish for a patio to be connected to the back of their house.
After the new patio was poured, we connected with the generous owners of Crabtree’s Garden Gate asking for a few garden items to accessorize the space and to bring sounds and chimes to create the ambiance. WOW – did they go above and beyond! We can’t thank Jan & Jeff Lynn enough for the beautiful, colorful items along with bird feeders and garden animals they brought to bring pops of color to the space. After the wish “and more” was complete, Dad told us, “Kallen was always disturbed and antsy outdoors until the patio and the goodies arrived. Now he’s calm, playful, smiling all the time. [We don’t] know how that happened, but it’s a miracle.” Sometimes the magic of a wish just can’t be explained!
