During a high school football practice, Soren suddenly experienced unbearable pain. He was rushed to the doctor and put through a battery of tests that resulted in the shocking and devastating news of stage four cancer that had spread to his lungs and lymph nodes. Surgery removed the primary tumor but a protocol of chemotherapy followed and the combination sapped him of his strength and resulted in massive weight loss. But this kid is tough and he worked hard and fought his way back to the team the following Fall! When he considered his options for a wish, he also considered his teammates, on and off the field, and wanted to have something that he could enjoy with them, other friends, and with his family members. It didn’t take long to come up with his number one wish – a boat allowance! Where better to enjoy memories with friends and loved ones than on the lake? Research became a great distraction and he used his wish allowance to buy a 1998 Nitro Savage 884, a bass fishing boat with a trolling motor. It’s everything he dreamed of and he has already had it out on Prior Lake to test its limits, and he’s happy to report that it’s really really fast. AND he’s even learned how to back it into the driveway! Many thanks to Scheel’s for donating a gift card to enhance his wish. He already has a rod and reel in mind to purchase. Here’s to many more lake adventures for Soren with and without a rod in hand!
