Sawyer

At three-months-old, Sawyer’s parents received the heartbreaking news that their perfect baby boy had a very rare neurological and degenerative disorder.  His adoring Mom stayed home to be with him each and every day and gave him the best childhood she could!  He loved the outdoors, hiking and spending time at a Park Reserve just 5-miles from their home.  Mom said he had amazing “navigational skills” and would lead the family on adventurous treks through the park on a regular basis.  At 6-years-old, this beautiful blue-eyed boy received another blow when he was diagnosed with Stage-4 Lymphoma. He proved himself to be “Sawyer Strong” and he actually conquered the cancer and looked forward to receiving his wish to go to Disney World when everything changed with a virulent infection. His wish wasn’t meant to be. However, our Memorial funding was able to support the family in their desire to have the gift be made out to Beaver Creek Reserve, which is also where they held his Celebration of Life.  Near his final days, Sawyer told Mom, “When I get home, I’m going to Beaver Creek.”  Even though he never made it back with his physical body, he will always be there in spirit and we’re honored to be able to support his family’s goal of creating more long-lasting monuments in the park for others to enjoy.  The memorial tribute video at our Annual Winter Ball featured Sawyer’s story with words from his adoring Mom, Danica.  We hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch and learn more about Sawyer in this heartfelt tribute to him and the other 82 kids who lost their battles before a wish could be granted in 2022.
