Asiya is a sweet 9-year-old from Roseville who’s challenged by cerebral palsy and is also battling heart disease. Despite these difficulties, she is an incredibly sweet and smiley little lady with a family who simply adores her. Her therapist has set a goal to get Asiya outside more and her family thought that a trip would inspire an intrinsic desire to spend more time outside seeing a new city! Her parents wish on her behalf was to go to Chicago where they could sightsee around a wheelchair friendly city, not too far from their hometown. The family has never gone anywhere together, and they were thrilled at the opportunity to make new memories on a family trip!
We are happy to share that the whole family had so much fun on their wish road trip! Asiya may not be able to speak, but she’s a great listener and she loved listening to her parents and siblings throughout the trip. They went on an architectural boat tour, visited the Sky Deck, Shedd Aquarium, the Children’s Museum, and Navy Pier. Mom shared that they were a little worried that the busyness would stress Asiya out; however, she did really well and had a lot of fun – with the boat ride being their favorite activity! Special thanks to wish contributor Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile for donating a room for their four-night stay.
