Three-year-old Matthias lived most of his life in the ICU. He was born with serious heart issues and required constant attention from his medical team. Every day, Matthias shared his beautiful smile with every person he came into contact with and Mom described him as “the sweetest little boy…with so much love to give.” The few times that Matthias was able to be home was spent creating memories with his adoring family. He was a beautiful and strong little man who battled valiantly but sadly passed in December of 2020. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met in his short time on earth. His mother shared, “You have taught me more in your three years of life than I’ve learned in my entire life. Your life was full of hospital stays, surgeries, procedures, medications, lines and tubes. Yet, you always had a smile on your face with so much love to give. You taught me to have faith and to never stop hoping, even when I didn’t think there was any hope left. You showed me a strength I had never seen before and you taught me what true perseverance is. You taught me to find joy in every circumstance. You made me a better person.” Matthias will be missed dearly, and we hope that our memorial gift will help create a lasting reminder of the life that Matthias lived.
