Sara is an energetic 4-year-old girl who lives with her parents and two older brothers. She has Downs Syndrome and was diagnosed with leukemia just after her third birthday. Her first year of treatment involved many hospital stays, including over both Thanksgiving and Christmas due to serious infections. Daily, her treatment included medicine and long doctor visits that involved blood transfusions, spinal taps, and lots of courage and patience.
Wishes & More® met Sara about a year into her treatment, and with Sara’s favorite character being Minnie Mouse, it was a no brainer what our Wizards would grant her and her family. In February of 2006, Sara and her family embarked on a seven day trip to sunny Florida and Disney World. The family stayed at an amazing resort called Give Kids the World, which is a very special place exclusively for wish children and their families that is located very close to the parks.
Sara’s mom wrote: “Wishes & More® made this an absolutely unforgettable trip, and we thank everyone involved in making this wish come true… When Sara’s treatment is complete and life settles down a bit for us, we look forward to volunteering at Wishes & More®, to help make wishes come true for other special children.”
