Rachel

Eighteen-year-old Rachel lives in Mound with her mom, Melissa.  When she was just 4 years old, Rachel almost lost her life as a result of a terrible reaction to an E. coli infection that resulted in multiple strokes on each side of her brain. This episode was the catalyst to her eclectic health journey, which has included many physical ailments that required surgeries and treatments, and the additional battle of a seizure disorder. She is confined to a wheelchair and is mostly nonverbal; however, she communicates using a combination of sign language and speaking. Tragically, her dad passed away from Brain Cancer in 2023 but despite it all, she is an absolutely delightful young lady. She told our wish wizards that one of her favorite things is “watching musicals with ‘hot’ boys, Marvel movies, Broadway shows, and baseball games.”  Rachel’s wish was to experience Disney World with her Mom, and earlier this year, we made this special wish happen.  After riding in a limo to the airport, Rachel experienced special treatment from our friends at Delta and made their way to Give Kids the World Village. They especially loved all the palm trees and time spent at Magic Kingdom seeking out the princesses. They also experienced Waffle House & SeaWorld, shared a ton of smiles, and created memories to last forever. We’re so happy we could bring this small family a beautiful week of joy at the happiest place on earth!
